VirtualBox 5.0.4 is now available for download


Oracle has released VirtualBox 5.0.4 (5.0.4 Build 102546) for Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris. This version is a second maintenance release of VirtualBox 5.0 which includes a large number of changes and bug fixes.

Overview
Oracle VM VirtualBox (aka VirtualBox) is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.

Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, Macintosh and OpenSolaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, 7, Windows 8/8.1), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4, 2.6 and 3.x), Solaris and OpenSolaris, and OpenBSD.

  • Storage: fixed raw disk access and flat VMDK image access which would be always opened readonly (5.0.2 regression).
  • Storage: fixed initial encryption of VDI images after they were compacted.
  • VGA: fix for certain graphics modes.
  • NAT: don't freeze while the VM is paused if the network attachment mode is changed from/to NAT with activated port forwarding.

  • Windows hosts: prevent intermittent host network disconnects during VM start/shutdown with bridged networking.
  • Windows Additions: fixed the call to the memory allocation function.
  • Linux Additions: be more forgiving if the compilation of the vboxvideo module fails.
  • X11 Additions: fixed a number of small issues with dynamic resizing and full-screen and seamless modes.
