Firefox 40.0.3 is now available for download and all existing users should be able to upgrade to it automatically (Menu > Help menu > About Firefox). This build contains many improvements including:
- Disabled the asynchronous plugin initialization.
- Fixed a segmentation fault in the GStreamer support (GNU/Linux).
- Fixed a startup crash when using DisplayLink (Windows Only).
- Fixed a regression with some Japanese fonts used in the <input /> field.
- Fixed: On some sites, the selection in a select combox box using the mouse could be broken.
- Fixed: Some search partner codes were missing.
- Various security fixed.

Firefox 40 Final released
Mozilla has released the final version of Firefox 40 for both desktop and mobile. Firefox 40 includes a number of changes. Most notably, this version adds support Windows 10 operating system. It also added protection against unwanted software downloads.
The new version also address multiple vulnerabilities, some of which could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to completely compromise a vulnerable system. Firefox 40: Security fixes can be found here.
Firefox 40 for android adds protection against unwanted software downloads. It also enable user to access their web history list by long press on back/forward navigation buttons in app menu.
What's new features in Firefox 40?
According to Firefox release notes, Firefox 40 for desktop has the following changes:
New:
- Support for Windows 10
- Added protection against unwanted software downloads
- User can receive suggested tiles in the tab page based on categories Firefox matches to browsing history (en-US only).
- Hello allows adding a link to conversations to provide context on what the conversation will be about style for add-on manager based on the in-content preferences style
- Improved scrolling, graphics, and video playback performance with off main thread compositing (GNU/Linux only)
- Graphic blocklist mechanism improved: Firefox version ranges can be specified, limiting the number of devices blocked
Changed:
- Add-on extensions that are not signed by Mozilla will display a warning
- NPAPI Plug-in performance improved via asynchronous initialization
- Smoother animation and scrolling with hardware vsync (Windows only)
- JPEG images use less memory when scaled and can be painted faster
- Sub-resources can no longer request HTTP authentication, thus protecting users from inadvertently disclosing login data

Firefox for android
According to Firefox release notes, Firefox 40 for android allows you paste clipboard contents into editable web contents. It also contains a number of improvements, here are highlights of changes in version 40 for android:
New:
- Added protection against unwanted software downloads
- Long press on back/forward navigation buttons in app menu to bring up history list
Changed:
- JPEG images use less memory when scaled and can be painted faster
- Sub-resources can no longer request HTTP authentication, thus protecting users from inadvertently disclosing login data
