August 2013 Surface RT firmware update enhances system stability and reliability

Microsoft has released August 2013 firmware and drivers update for Surface RT. The update enhances system stability and reliability. This update also contains UEFI firmware update that addresses audio issues.

Details
This firmware and driver package contains drivers for all of the components in the Surface RT device, as well as updates to the system firmware that have been released via Windows Update.

Because updates are cumulative, when you install the latest update, you'll also get all the previous updates if your Surface doesn't have them already. Only updates that apply to Surface will be downloaded and installed.

How to update Surface RT firmware?
Updates are automatically installed on Surface through Windows Update. However, you can also manually install updates by following the steps below:
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and then tap or click Settings.
  2. (If you’re using a mouse, point to upper-right corner of screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
  3. Tap or click Change PC settings.
  4. Under PC settings, tap or click Windows Update.
  5. Tap or click Check for updates now.
  6. When updates are available, you will see a message that tells you how many updates are available. You may need to restart Surface after the updates have been installed.
