WordPress 4.0 Now Available for Download

There is a newer version of this program: WordPress 4.0.1

WordPress 4.0 code name "Benny" final version is now available for download, as well as update either from Dashboard or through FTP clients. WordPress 4.0 features a number of refinements.


Overview
WordPress is an open source CMS, often used as a blog publishing application powered by PHP and MySQL. It has many features including a plugin architecture and a templating system. Used by over 300 of the 10,000 biggest websites, WordPress is the most popular blog software in use today.

It was first released in May 2003 by Matt Mullenweg as a fork of b2/cafelog. As of September 2009, it was being used by 202 million websites worldwide.

What's new in WordPress 4.0 "Benny"
This release contains the a number of new features and improvements. Here are some of the highlight features:

Manage your media with style:
Explore your uploads in a beautiful, endless grid. A new details preview makes viewing and editing any amount of media in sequence a snap.

Working with embeds has never been easier:
Paste in a YouTube URL on a new line, and watch it magically become an embedded video. The editor now shows a true preview of your embedded content, saving you time and giving you confidence. WordPress also allows you to embed videos from CollegeHumor, playlists from YouTube, and talks from TED and more.

Focus on your content:
Writing and editing is smoother and more immersive with an editor that expands to fit your content as you write, and keeps the formatting tools available at all times.

Finding the right plugin:
WordPress 4.0 makes it easier to find the right one for your needs, with new metrics, improved search, and a more visual browsing experience.
